There's a new time-killer in town and it goes by the name New Hive. Part interactive digital canvas and part spastic gif blaster, New Hive allows for the dead-simple creation of dynamic, high-sparkle web-based media installations. Leaning heavily toward the avante-garde and experiemental, the platform provides a compelling free-form space to smash together all sorts of gif-y goodness and blinding colors. It's fun as hell.
New Hive is currently accepting work for something they are calling The Wrong.
Join the digital artist, curators, and other creatives participate in The Wrong - New Digital Art Bienniale as The Wrong expands the notion of not just art but also the online art community + space.
About the creation you see at the top:
- Device Load Required was a photo I took of a broken payment terminal at Target - Automan - A video I shot of a wind-powered art installation outside San Mateo - A picture of all the copies of Jerry Maguire I found at a Mission thrift store - I have no idea where I found the blinking woman gif. - A still from the film Beyond the Black Rainbow - A still from a whacked-out film clip compilation from the astounding CDTcrew - The audio is taken from a lecture on Nietzsche from The Great Courses
I'll likely poke around with it some more and see if I can get "good" at it, whatever that may mean.
