I've not been following the Olympics really at all this time around. Nothing against the sporty spectacle, of course. I've just not had the time to sit and watch. Seems with all the feeds, streams, and broadcasts that a guy would be able to watch it at some point. But, alas, I've not been willing to tune in.
However, I was glancing constantly at Twitter as the Opening Ceremony kicked off - it sounded like a pretty amazing show. Punks, big lights, parachuting Queen... wait. What? FUCK BUTTONS? They played FUCK BUTTONS during the Olympic Opening Ceremonies? NO WAY!
I'm a big fan of the two-man noise outfit and count Tarot Sport (iTunes) as a favorite album. I've watched many an Ocean Beach sunset with The Lisbon Maru blasting through my headphones. I caught the band when they opened up for Mogwai in San Francisco about five years ago. Stunning. Brutal. Beautiful.
It's amazing racket for longboarding into oblivion. But for the Olympics? This guy called it back in 2009:
