Paul Sullivan - Afro Samurai Illustrator

Swordschool_paulsullivan_2 We all know that one person; that one "talented artist" friend that is actually talented and actually an artist. Like, the real deal. Paul Sullivan is that guy for me.

Paul did some illustrations for my film magazine, 16:9 Magazine several years ago back in Colorado.

He moved out here to the Bay Area and found work almost immediately. His latest efforts include conceptual heavy-lifting for the newest title from top-tier video game developers, Namco Bandai.

From the release:

Santa Clara Calif., (April 16, 2008) – High-style action comes to the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system this fall with Afro Samurai® from NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. Join Afro in his tale of revenge as he searches for his father’s murderer and the holder of the coveted number one headband. Based on the hit animated series starring and co-produced by Samuel L. Jackson, Afro Samurai blends modern hip hop and technology with traditional Japanese culture into a brutally fresh cinematic experience.

Paul has also done some work for Tomb Raider, X-Men and Iron Man. Spin through his site. And he has a blog that, while rarely updated, has some killer work in it.
